Sweden and Norway set fair while Denmark sweat Mention the year 1958 and Swedish football fans still romanticise about what might have been. Sweden have competed in ten FIFA World Cups since 1930, a testimony to the traditionally strong position they have enjoyed on the Nordic football landscape. Their 2002 campaign ended in a second-round defeat to surprise package Senegal, after they had topped their first-round group ahead of favourites England and Argentina.
